FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
BEING AN MCBBA COACH!
How Are Coaches Selected?
All of our coaches are unpaid volunteers, and most are parents of players. We have several coaches that come back to volunteer because they enjoy the fun and once played for MCBBA.
We are very appreciative of all of our coaches and volunteers!
What are the responsibilities of each coach?
The Head Coach makes all of the primary decisions for the team. These decisions include:
- Designation of all protected players (two maximum allowed)
- Team information including team name & choosing the day(s) & location for practices
- Head Coach oversees the players for each practice and game on their designated team
Do the coaches go through additional training or are they screened by the organization before coaching a team?
All coaches (head and assistant), officers, directors, and commissioners will submit an application as well as a release for an annual criminal background check reviewed by a screening committee before the season starts.
All coaches must complete a NAYS (National Alliance for Youth Sports) basketball certification paid for by MCBBA. Additionally, coaches must attend supplemental sessions on conducting practices and game rules.
An MCBBA Screening Committee will meet and approve the qualifications of all coaches.
